Brian Harrington June 11, 1956- December 2, 2018

As I look out the window at the ice glistening in the sunlight, I take a deep breathe. I can feel the brisk air of spring and fall, and the warmth of the summer sun. So many wonderful memories. The resort and our guests are a special gift. This year in December 2018, I had to say goodbye to my biggest fan and teacher, my dad, Brian Harrington.
Growing up I was pretty much my dad’s shadow. Not much has changed in the last few years. Being here at the resort is a blessing, as a child and as an adult. This business allowed my dad to be present in every moment of my life. We had the opportunity to laugh together and cry together. Leslie and I feel blessed that we had many years working here at the resort along side my dad to teach and to guide us.
Brian, the man you knew and loved, “the chief cook and bottle washer”, as he liked to call himself, the boat driver, conversationalist, handyman, and scotch drinker. Most importantly, the incredible man, father and friend. He cared deeply for you, our guests. He watched growth of families, the building of relationships and the losses of those close to you. He talked about the resort being a Godly calling to service and hoped his guidance over morning coffee helped you through your day. He worked hard and sacrificed to continue his mission at Clearview, because he believed in everything it represents—spending time, celebrating family and creating memories. The love and support we feel, especially in this difficult time, has been incredible. It has illustrated why we call you our Clearview Family. My dad wanted to retire here and he did. Last year, he stepped back and enjoyed time with my mom, with his kids and the grandkids. He played on the beach, went tubing and even toasted marshmallows at the bonfire. He had the opportunity to experience, like you, the joys the resort provides.
At the time of his passing, he was at peace. He told us he had no regrets. He had achieved everything he had set out to accomplish. He spent each day loving my mom. Throughout his life, he told people how he felt about them, and he was there to experience his children’s successes, with school, sports, weddings and babies. He had passed on the resort to Leslie and I as he watched us love and cherish it the way he did. As we move forward, we hold onto his faith, his love and encourage everyone to embrace time with family as we recognize each moment shared is truly a gift.
